The Group has implemented an investment project to introduce a new automated optical sorting line

Automated optical sorting line was put into operation in the fused powders complex «Avangard» of Magnezit Group. The new equipment was installed within the investment project of Magnezit Group for increasing of fused periclase production.

This line allows to separate good product from recyclable material without human help and not to spend additional resources for repeated melting of high quality periclase. Modern equipment uses the optical principle of sorting — machine optics scans the material by means of one or two color line cameras by color, brightness and particle size. The data obtained are analyzed by an industrial computer and the information is then transferred to a blowing unit where a compressed air pulse is used to separate the discarded particles from the good material. The crust goes into one hopper and the periclase into another. The new line has a wide range of opportunities, it consists of four streams adjusted to different grain composition of material — fractions 3-5, 5-10, 10-20 and 20-60 mm.

At the present time start-up works are carried out, software parameters are verified, technological process is debugged. Test batch of periclase from the automated line has already arrived for testing and use in production. Introduction of the new equipment makes it possible to reduce costs and to separate 15% more good product as compared to the previously used sorting methods.
